On the 50 most influential movies of American culture

It has been a while since I’ve done a lighter post so I want to present my list of the top 50 most influencing movies in American culture.  These movies are not necessarily the best films or the best produced, but they are the ones that have seeped into the American consciousness on such a deep level you could almost walk up to any American adult and mention these titles or catch phrases you would get recognition.  My girlfriend and I worked on this last night for hours.  If you don’t agree with some of the choices please write in comments which ones you would replace.

So in no particular order:

-Back to the Future     -Schindler’s List     -Rain Man     -Beverly Hills Cop     -Good Morning Vietnam

-Breakfast at Tiffany’s     -Top Gun     -Die Hard     -Rambo     -Terminator

-Wizard of Oz    -Home Alone     -Ten Commandments     -Star Wars     -ET

-Taxi Driver     -Jurassic Park     -When Harry Met Sally     -Toy Story     -Ferris Bueller

-Scarface     -Dr. Strangelove     -Superman     -Goonies    -Love Story

-Philadelphia     -Saving Private Ryan     -Forrest Gump     -King Kong(original)     -Casablanca

-Gone With the Wind     -Seven Samurai     -Indiana Jones     -Titanic     -Godfather

-Jaws     -Dirty Harry     -Breakfast Club     -Pretty Woman     -Batman

-Pulp Fiction     -Braveheart     -Thelma and Louise     -Silence of the Lambs     -A Christmas Story

-It’s a Wonderful Life     -Steel Magnolias     -Young Frankenstein     -Charlie and the Chocolate Factory     -Avatar
