On Vaccines

Larry King in his quest for journalistic excellence had a couple on his show last night that were discussing their trials and tribulations in regards to their daughter’s affliction with Autistic like symptoms and what they claim as the cause of this disease, childhood vaccinations.

The article that underscores the story can be found here

I am very concerned that parents will take this extremely rare example of possible aggravation of a genetically predisposed disorder and run with it screaming that vaccines are harmful.  Vaccines save people’s lives.  This fact is unarguable.  The  lack of vaccination in many of the childhood versions is an invitation for a disaster.  Playing the game of luck is not a game that any child deserves to be the victim of.

Do the research or read the research done by various non profit groups about vaccinations and their possible side effects.  No major studies have found a conclusive link between vaccination and autism.

When I saw the article and the coverage on Larry’s show I was extremely upset as I know people tend to fear more easily than do the research to repudiate those fears.  I think it is irresponsible to put that fear into the air.  We have enough fear as it is.  In fact we are eating and breathing fear in the same concentrations as oxygen and carbon dioxide.

  1. I think it’s a good thing that people are beginning to question, though, rather than blindly accepting that ALL childhood vaccines should be given to infants.
